Storage Fees (FBA)

Definition

The monthly fee Amazon charges for the space your FBA inventory takes up, based on cubic feet and size tier. Rates rise sharply from October through December.

Formula

Monthly Storage Fee = Cubic Feet Stored × Rate per Cubic Foot

Storage fees reward lean inventory and punish over-ordering, especially ahead of Q4. Bulky products are hit hardest.

Allocating them by SKU shows which products are expensive to hold. Watch for: storage fees treated as general overhead, which hides which products are dragging down margins.

Example

500 cubic feet of standard-size inventory costs roughly three times more to store in November than in June because of peak-season rates.
