Fractional CFO

Definition

An experienced chief financial officer who works with your business part-time, providing planning, forecasting, cash management and strategic guidance without a full-time salary.

Most growing businesses need CFO-level thinking well before they can justify a full-time CFO. A fractional CFO fills that gap, usually starting with cash, margins and planning.

The value depends on having clean, timely books underneath. Watch for: hiring strategy help on top of unreliable numbers, because the advice will only be as good as the data.

Example

A $3M brand works with a fractional CFO a few days a month to build a 13-week cash forecast, set SKU-level margin targets and prepare for a line of credit.
